Burn calories and live more

Two studies indicate that daily activities, such as domestic chores, can add up years to your life.

 

The first one, from the National Age Institute, studied 302 healthy men during six years. The more active ones burned 2,611 calories per day compared to the 1,766 calories burned by the more passive group. Researchers found out that for each 287 calories burned per day, the mortality risk was reduced in 30%. The difference was the daily chores.

In another study from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, 791 persons were monitored since they were 20 years old until they reached their sixties. The more active ones reduced in half the risk of heart diseases.
