If you do one thing today... spend just 15 minutes in nature
Get out of your car and walk a little. It's good for your body, your spirit, and your planet.
For every mile you spend on your feet, instead of behind the steering wheel, you burn 70 to 100 calories and drop pounds - pounds of carbon dioxide, that is. An accumulation of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is contributing to global warming. (This in turn is triggering planetary changes like hotter weather; stronger, more damaging, and life-threatening storms; worse air pollution; and the spread of more diseases).
The fact that global warming exists - and that we are facing a planetary emergency - is indisputable. That is the bad news. The good news is that each and every one of us has a tremendous capacity to make a difference today.
We have before us now a generational mission, a true moral purpose, a unifying cause, and an opportunity to rise to the occasion and do something to create change. Even the smallest things we do - like biking, walking, or running whenever possible - will make a big difference for the world we'll pass on to our children.
